About
Old books, good company.
Chronicle reads the great classics aloud. Every book is split into chapters, narrated end to end, and shown beside its full text, so you can listen on a walk, read along on the sofa, or do both at once.
The books are in the public domain, which means everyone is free to read them. We think listening should be just as free, so everyone gets 20 minutes a week, no account needed. If you want to keep going, Plus removes the limit.
How the library is made
Texts come from carefully proofread public-domain editions. Narration is produced with synthetic voices and timed against the text, which is how the highlighted read-along works. Each book is a few hours of audio you can pause, speed up, or set a sleep timer for.
